“Gender equity has to be promoted beyond the public sector to cover all segments of society, beyond representation in leadership positions, to permeate all aspects of human endeavour, if we are to realize its benefits,” said Namibia’s Prime Minister, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila.

Education is a powerful social instrument and a pivotal factor that has tremendous potential to change the life patterns of humans in all segments irrespective of any gender discrimination. Unfortunately, gender discrimination is still a prevalent norm in most societies. In Pakistan, the situation is deteriorating day by day specifically in rural areas and has reached the nadir. Since the inception of Pakistan, exploitation in all facets is the fate of Pakistani women. By and large, the fundamental rights of females, which are granted by the constitution of Pakistan, are denied.

Women and men have a role to be the connector of present-future generations. In SDGs 5, the country policy as a system has been allocating part of its plans for women and children’s welfare. This study examines the role of the government in allocating its policies along with the urgency to empower. This research is qualitative research with a qualitative approach. Data collected through literature studies and interviews with the informant, namely Assistant Deputy for Gender Equality and Infrastructure, the Indonesian Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection), then the data were analyzed descriptively. The result of this research is that the SDGs synergy has been implemented in the presidential program called Nawa Cita and the National Medium-Term Development Plan.

We are in unprecedented times. Climate change, fake news, COVID-19, media monopolisation and armchair scientists who are ensuring that the pursuit of gender equity within societies is a difficult road to traverse for health promotion practitioners, policy writers and researchers. However, the topic of gender equity is more important than ever. In fact, it has become urgent.

Gender studies (GS) has been challenged on epistemological grounds. Here, we compare samples of peer-reviewed academic journal publications written by GS authors and authors from closely related disciplines in the social sciences. The material consisted of 2805 statements from 36 peer-reviewed journal articles, sampled from the Swedish Gender Studies List, which covers >12,000 publications.

In 2018, it was reported that male students were given priority over female students in exams at some Japanese medical universities. The underlying reason for this controversial priority is thought to be the assumption that female doctors experience more difficulties than male doctors in the clinical field. One of the universities involved justified setting their admissions criteria higher for women based on an academic paper in the field of psychology that claimed women had better communication skills than men (Mainichi Japan 2018).

The gender gap in involvement in crime has been at the core of the criminological research for the last four decades. The purpose of this exploratory study is to examine what is commonly referred to as the gender gap in criminology in the country of Turkey. The major source of longitudinal data for this study is drawn from new prison commitment statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistics Institute. This study addresses two exploratory research questions with reference to gender and criminality in the country of Turkey: (1) what are the gender differences in criminal offending in Turkey?; and (2) are there any changes in the offending patterns by gender between 1969 and 2005?
